Double Mesh Mug Cozy – 15oz

This stash buster is the perfect, cozy way to add a little homemade flair to your morning cup. They also make great gifts with your favorite mug, coffee, or tea.

 

Finished Measurements

Finished cozy measures approximately 9” wide by 3.5” tall when laying on a flat surface. Cozy is designed to fit 15oz straight-sided, handled mugs.

28yds / 26m (16g) of a durable, size 4, worsted weight cotton yarn
3.5mm crochet hook
Scissors
Tapestry needle

Gauge

A 4″x4″ square will require 9 repeats of the double crochet mesh pattern by 8 rows.

To Start

CH 42.

Row 1:

SC into second CH from hook and each ST across. (41)

Row 2

CH 4, turn. SK next stitch, DC into following stitch. *CH 1, SK stitch, DC into next stitch*; repeat * to last ST, which should be a DC. (20 mesh SP)

Row 3-6

CH 4, turn. SK next CH SP, DC into top of next DC. *CH 1, SK next CH SP, DC into next DC*; repeat * to last ST, which should be a DC into the 3rd CH from the start of the previous row. (20 mesh SP)

Row 7

CH 1, turn. SC into same ST and next CH SP. *SC into DC, SC into next CH SP*; repeating * across and ending with a SC into the last CH SP and then a SC into the 3rd CH from the start of the previous row. (41)

Row 8

CH 18, do not twist, rejoin with a SC into the first ST of the bottom of the cozy. SC into each ST across bottom of cozy.

When you reach the end, CH 18, do not twist, and rejoin into the first ST of the top of the cozy.

Continue SC into each ST across top of cozy until one stitch remains. SL ST into last ST.

To Finish

Fasten off and weave in ends.
