Double Mesh Soap Saver
This handy little soap saver is a great project to use up those extra ends of cotton yarn in your stash and makes a great gift with your favorite soaps.
Finished Measurements
Finished bag measures approximately 3.5” wide and 5” tall to fit most size bars of soap.
Materials
30yds / 27m (16g) of a durable, size 4, worsted weight cotton yarn
5.0mm crochet hook
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers (optional)

CH Chain
SC Single Crochet
DC Double Crochet
ST Stitch
SK Skip
SL ST Slip Stitch
INC Increase (2 ST in same ST)

4″ x 4″ square will require 8 double crochet mesh pattern repeats across by 7 rows.

Pattern is written in American Standard terms.
CH 1 and CH 2 do not count as ST. CH 4 counts as DC and CH.

Pattern
To Start
CH 11.
You’ll be working in rounds. Start stitching round one into the back bumps of your starting CH. Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of the round to help keep your place.
Round 1:
3SC in 2nd CH from hook, SC in next 8 ST. 3SC in last CH. Continue SC in 8 ST along bottom of work. Join with SL ST to first SC. (22)
Round 2
CH 1, turn. SC in next ST (not joining ST) and following 7 ST. SC INC in next 3 ST. SC in following 8 ST, SC INC in last 3 ST. Join with SL ST to first SC. (28)
Round 3
CH 1, turn. HDC around. Join with SL ST into first SC. (28)
Round 4
CH 4, do not turn. *SK ST, DC, CH 1*; repeat * around. Join with SL ST into 3rd CH.
Round 5-10
CH 4, do not turn. *SK CH SP, DC, CH 1*; repeat * around. Join with SL ST into 3rd CH.
When building on the mesh: you’ll always SK over the CH SP and DC into the DC from the previous round.
Round 11
CH 2, do not turn. DC into same stitch, *DC into CH SP, DC*; repeat * five times. CH 16, do not twist, rejoin with SL ST into top of DC. *DC into CH SP, DC*; repeat * seven times. CH 6, do not twist, rejoin with SL ST into top of DC. DC into CH SP, DC, DC into CH SP. Join with SL ST into top of first DC.
To Finish
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Now go get your favorite bar of soap and give it a nice lather!
Recommended Use
Place soap in bag. Use chain loops to secure closed. Follow yarn manufacturer’s instructions for washing.
