Mini Brick Can Cozy with Base
Keep that pesky can sweat from making your beverage slippery with this cozy that fits on a standard size 12oz aluminum can. Get creative and use a combination of your favorite colors to customize your beverage. They also make great gifts, especially in the colors of their favorite sports team.

4.0mm crochet hook

Pattern is written in American Standard terms.
CH 1 and CH 2 do not count as ST.
The base uses a variated increase method which keeps your increases from being in the same place, providing a circle that is more round instead of hexagon.

Pattern
To Start
Start a Magic Ring with a CH 1.
You’ll be working in rounds. Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of the round to help keep your place.
Round 1:
Place 9 SC into the ring and pull the loose end to close it up. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (9)
Round 2
CH 1. SC INC in the next ST and each ST around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (18)
Round 3
CH 1. SC INC into the next ST, then SC into the following ST. *SC INC, SC*; repeat * around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (27)
Round 4
CH 1. SC into the next ST, followed by a SC INC into the next, and a SC into the following ST. *SC, SC INC, SC*; repeat * around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (36)
Cozy base should measure in diameter 2.5 inches at this point to fit comfortably on a standard 12oz aluminum can.
Round 5
CH 1. SC in BLO in the next ST and each ST around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (36)
Round 6
CH 1. SC into the same ST, CH 2, SK 2, SC into the following ST. *CH 2, SK 2, SC*; repeat * around until 2 ST remain. CH 2, then join with a SL ST into the top of the first SC of the round.
Round 7
CH 2. DC into the same ST, *2 DC in CH space, DC in next ST*; repeat * around until one CH SP remains. Place 2 DC in the final CH SP, then join with a SL ST into the top of the first DC of the round.
Round 8-16
Repeat rounds 6-7, ending with a round 6.
Extra Credit: Switch to a contrasting color for each repeat of 6-7 for a striped look. - OR - Use a contrasting color for rows 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 for a small pop of color on individual stitches.
Round 17
CH 1. HDC into the same ST. *2 HDC in CH space, HDC in next ST*; repeat * around. Join with a SL ST into first HDC of the round.
Round 18
CH 1. SL ST into each ST around.
To Finish
Join with a SL ST or your preferred fasten off method, then weave in ends.
