Mini Brick Pint Cozy

45yds / 42m (25g) of a durable, size 4, worsted weight cotton yarn
4.0mm crochet hook

Pattern is written in American Standard terms.
CH 1 and CH 2 do not count as ST.
The base uses a variated increase method which keeps your increases from being in the same place, providing a circle that is more round instead of hexagon.

Pattern
To Start
Start a Magic Ring with a CH 1.
You’ll be working in rounds. Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of the round to help keep your place.
Round 1:
Place 7 SC into the ring and pull to close it up. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (7)
Round 2
CH 1. SC INC in the next ST and each ST around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (14)
Round 3
CH 1. SC INC into the next ST, then SC into the following ST. *SC INC, SC*; repeat * around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (21)
Round 4
CH 1. SC into the next ST, followed by a SC INC into the next, and a SC into the following ST. *SC, SC INC, SC*; repeat * around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (28)
Round 5
CH 1. SC INC into the next ST, then SC into the following 3 ST. *SC INC, 3 SC*; repeat * around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (35)
Round 6
CH 1. SC into the next 2 ST, then SC INC into the next, followed by SC into the following 2 ST. *2 SC, SC INC, 2 SC*; repeat around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (42)
Cozy base should measure in diameter 3.25 inches at this point to fit comfortably on a standard pint container.
Round 7
CH 1. SC in BLO in the next ST and each ST around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (42)
Round 8
CH 1. SC in the next ST and each ST around. Join with a SL ST into the first SC. Do not turn. (42)
Extra Credit: Switch to a contrasting color for rounds 9-10 and 13-14 for a striped look. - OR - Use a contrasting color for rows 9, 11, 13, and 15 for a small pop of color on individual stitches.
Round 9
CH 1. SC into the same ST, CH 2, SK 2, SC into the following ST. *CH 2, SK 2, SC*; repeat * around until 2 ST remain. CH 2, then join with a SL ST into the top of the first SC of the round.
Round 10
CH 2. DC into the same ST, *2 DC in CH space, DC in next ST*; repeat * around until one CH SP remains. Place 2 DC in the final CH SP, then join with a SL ST into the top of the first DC of the round.
Round 11 – 15
Repeat rounds 9-10, ending with a round 9.
Round 16
CH 1, SC into the same ST, *2 SC into the CH space, SC in next ST*; repeat * around until the last CH SP. Place 2 SC into the last CH SP, then join with a SL ST into the top of the first SC of the round.
Round 17
CH 1, SC into the same ST and in each ST around.
To Finish
Join with a SL ST or your preferred fasten off method, then weave in ends.
